A Sense of Place by Susan Randall
Susan Randall selected a few of her “sense of place” landscapes for this show at Books and Books. These original soft pastel paintings by Susan Randall reflect an artist’s sensitivity to the ” sense of place “ of South Florida, South Carolina, and Cape Cod. In this twenty first century of tweets and social media events, one seeks the quiet and the serenity offered by this retreat to our natural surroundings of outdoor scenes.
A fragility of life and the beauty of nature in these beautiful landscapes are painted with order instead of chaos. It is in these personal and private views of her world and her feelings, that we see the view of a mature artist who chooses to avoid the surrealism and reality shows, and to instead look within and find salvation in nature in these times. She interprets in her paintings the sense of place of each landscape with vivid colors and heightened emotion or in quiet respect.
Susan Randall has a BA. BFA, and a Masters degree in art history, photography, and art education. Archival glycee prints are available from the artist.
On view through January 30th
