Born and raised in Miami, Jake returned to his hometown after graduating from the University of Delaware. He spent his time there traveling up and down the east coast with his band or across the pond on study abroad in Scotland and Ireland. Son of a playwright and a writer himself, he’s bound to recommend something interesting.

Jake Selections

V for Vendetta

Allan Moore

"I like how they offer a sort of visual escape and I think we need that during these trying times. That said, here is a political book describing a near dystopian Britian who's government is fascist and society is either rotten or living in fear. "

On the Road

Jack Kerouac

"If you're on the fence about disappearing onto the highway for a little bit, this is the push you're waiting for. This classic tells the story of Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty on their travels through late 40's America. If you haven't read it, and you aren't a square, give it a shot. "

Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout

Laura Jane Grace

"Laura Jane Grace is the lead singer and songwriter for one of the best punk rock bands that have ever existed: Against Me! Personally, they got me into writing songs. In 2011, Laura came out as being Transgender. This book details her journey, not just through the obvious changes happening to her, but those with her band, her wife, and her young daughter."

American Gods

Neil Gaiman

"Neil Gaiman is often referred as one of the worlds greatest storytellers. Some say this with sarcasm, but I mean it with upmost sincerity. This book tells the story of a man out of prison, thrust into a road trip and a world between weary gods of old and the gods of the modern age. "
